Overview

This 7-day Xinjiang Silk Road culture tour is designed for travelers with limited time, focusing on the region's most iconic historical, cultural, and natural wonders. The itinerary efficiently connects the key cities of Kashgar, Urumqi, and Turpan, offering a profound journey through ancient trade routes, vibrant bazaars, timeless cities, and stunning high-altitude landscapes.

What is special about this tour?

This tour offers a concentrated experience of the Silk Road's essence. It features the legendary Sunday Bazaar and Livestock Market in Kashgar—a living snapshot of ancient trade. You'll traverse the Karakoram Highway to the breathtaking Karakul Lake, explore millennia-old historical sites like the Jiaohe Ruins and Karez systems, and witness the unique blend of Uyghur culture, Islamic architecture, and China's western frontier history.

What to prepare?

Travel Documents: Ensure your passport and necessary China travel permits (check requirements based on your nationality) are in order.

Health & Altitude: The tour reaches Karakul Lake at 3,600m. Prepare for potential altitude sickness with medication, stay hydrated, and pace yourself. Consult your doctor before travel.

Clothing: Pack layered clothing. Days can be hot (especially in Turpan), but mornings, evenings, and high-altitude areas are cool. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are essential.

Essentials: Sun protection (high SPF sunscreen, hat, sunglasses) is crucial due to strong UV rays. Bring moisturizers and lip balm for the arid climate. A reusable water bottle is recommended.

Best time to visit

The ideal times for this tour are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to early October). During these periods, the weather is generally mild and pleasant across all destinations—comfortable for exploring cities and ideal for clear views at Karakul Lake. Summers can be extremely hot, particularly in Turpan, while winters are very cold, with some high-altitude areas like Karakul Lake potentially inaccessible.
